Translation of Matthew’s After-Show Chat (from )Thank you for watching. That was my vocal cover of “Tarine” by syudou-san. Do you guys watch combat sports? I hear that this song was written inspired by professional boxer Kazuto Ioka, the first ever Japanese four-weight world champion. Lately, all of a sudden, YouTube began recommending such clips as “super knockouts” which I found very cool. When I watch these videos, I can’t help but have adoration for the fights as I am a boy, too. (He mimics boxing moves. Subtitle says “The golden right punch”.) I haven’t been watching a lot of combat sport matches because I felt they were scary; they look painful, you know. Despite looking the way I do, I have never been in a fist fight or anything like that. The closest I come to such a thing would be when I grab my mother’s ankles when she is sleeping in a kotatsu heater, and pull her further into the kotatsu in jest. A light…light-touched…intimidation. I hope you get my drift. (Translator’s note: Matthew and his mom are very tight. This is an affectionate gesture between them.) In the lyrics of the song, there’s a phrase “(I’m going to go) up, up, and up”. You know, people in competitive sports are all working hard, aiming to get to the top. As a musician who is aiming to climb up in the music industry, I hope one day I can afford to live in one of the top floors of a high-rise condominium. I’ll continue to work hard. I hope you’d cheer me on. (He bows.)I’m uploading one or two video clips of my vocal covers every week on this channel. If you liked my video, please Subscribe, Like and turn on the Bell so you won’t miss them. I hope to see you next time. Until then, I’m Matthew. Bye-bye. (He exits shadow boxing.)
