Edit: at he's showing his face with a truly happy look on his face, only to get crushed. I think this shows what he's truly afraid of, being vulnerable again only to get crushed. Even though their friendship was superficial, he actually did grow attached to Yota. So when he was taken away, he did in fact feel the pang of loneliness again. No wanting to go through the same thing again, he made a decision. The only way he could feel that happiness was to take matters into his own hands, only truly show himself in the moment before his death. There's no rejection after the fact then. No crushing of his emotions, no nothing. Even though Yota managed to escape his loneliness, Tamo couldn't.

I also barely noticed this that at during the rest in peace scene a flash of yota's face was shown looking at the screen and crying that means yota was present at the time toma jumped of the tower but toma didn't expected him to come that's why while saying RIP his face was shown with a calm smile and tear coming from one of his eyessome facts I think are possible
